This Culturally Modified Tree is located along the Louise Dover Memorial Trail, Sandspit. Louise Dover was a Haida woman who lived most of her life in Sandspit. The old growth forest that the Dover Trail meanders through is a place with towering spruce and huge cedar trees. Many of the cedar trees have been culturally modified (CMT) in a variety of ways. Notice the stripped bark and the clear cut mark at the top of the strip. The lobes of this cedar are growing in and over the stripped section. This is one example of many ways that the Haida utilized cedar.
