The Bear Mother head is being roughed out. The large adze work to the left of the photo is the preliminary shaping of her mouth and jaw.

 

Guujaaw draws the jaw line on the Bear Mother. You can see the preliminary drawing for the eye to the right and the roughing out of her body to Guujaaw's left.


The eyes, nose, and mouth are close to their final stages. You can see the red lines in the mouth and around the nose that define the final direction for carving.

The Bear Mother head is finished and ready for painting. Note the differences in the nose, eyes, and mouth from the photo above.
