Pictured here are a mallet, chisel, and adze. The mallet and chisel are used in conjunction with the adze for roughing out the pole figures as can be seen beneath the tools. (This is the head of the seal ( on the right) and the whales tail (on the left.)


A pouch of knives and one chisel (second from left). Notice the bends in some of the blades, they are used when carving a rounded surface---for example when working in an eye socket. The tools range from 8 to 12 inches in length. All the tools are handmade except for the knife on the left.

These two adzes are larger than the one at the top of the page and are used in the heavy work of roughing out figures.
